Paynesville Cemetery

Paynesville Cemetery is a well maintained 1.63 acre Township Owned Cemetery located in the SE ¼ of the SE ¼ of Section 25, T 48 N, R 39 W, in Stannard Township, MI. The Cemetery is located on paved Nurkkala Road, to get there from Bruce Crossing travel 3.2 mile east from Bruce Crossing on M-28, then go 1/4 mile West on Nurkkala Road.

The vacant lots are for sale at a cost of $100 per lot for Stannard Township residents (Stannard Township landowner or full time resident) and $200 per lot for non-residents. Paynesville Cemetery is Township owned and is completely plated.

As of 2014 approximately 270 people are buried in Paynesville Cemetery. The 1st person buried in this cemetery was Elgin Ball in 1888. There are about 30 people buried there in unmarked graves with their identity unknown. Approximately 210 empty lots are available and platted, they have the corners marked with permanent monuments.
